FYI – Bar Situation

I’ve had a couple of people ask what the bar situation is for the reception. First of all – please don’t forget your ID! Lake View will not serve anyone without an ID…not even Nanny. :-) So ladies, you’ll have to find a place to stash that driver’s license – I highly suggest your date’s pocket.

There will be wine served with dinner, and there will be beer, wine, and soda available at the bar courtesy of the bride’s parents. The harder drinkers in the crowd should bring cash for your cocktails and martinis (shaken, not stirred).

Side note: There will also be a coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar with all kinds of goodies (like chocolate-covered spoons!).

RSVP Time

We have been really busy lately planning out the last details for the wedding. Invitations were sent, as Mike mentioned, and we’ve started to get piles of RSVPs back in the mail everyday. I feel like I should sing the Blue’s Clues “Mailtime” song every afternoon, I get so excited to see who responded.

We have had a couple of declines, but mostly from out-of-towners, which is understandable. Mom’s been visiting for two weeks to help us get stuff done, and our latest project was the seating chart. Post-It Flags and a giant piece of posterboard work wonders. Forgive me if you have to sit near the bathroom – someone has to, and frankly the bathrooms are really nice.

I have to drop Mom at the airport today, but we got a lot done while she was here. We did the cake tasting (with me, Mike, and both of our Moms, which was a great experience – mmm…Bailey’s flavored cake filling), and picked the design and flavors of the cake (chocolate cake with chocolate mousse, and white cake with white chocolate mousse) [Konditor Meister is doing the cake - and I love them because they gave me a box full of pastries when we left]. We picked out our wedding rings the same day, with Mom K. and Mom J. helping (Thank you, Belden Jewelers).

Mom & I also did the girly things – filled the favor tins, got my dress altered, and went for a trial makeup run with the Estee Lauder lady (I <3 Estee Lauder).

Today Mom & I are going to visit Mom J. and the boys, and then I have to drive Mom to the airport, drop Trish’s dress off to her at work, pick up fake flowers and doodads for the cake topper, and then pick Mike up at work.

Whew.

Time indeed flies.

Wow, it’s less than two months now, until the wedding.  Invitations were sent out earlier this week, so if you’re invited, you should be getting it any day now.

We ordered a bunch of decorations the other night for the reception, and still have a bunch of stuff left to do, but we’re getting there.

Just 57 more days until the wedding, my my, time indeed flies.

New Halloween Pictures

Halloween Season is in full swing in Salem already, and Mike and I gave in to the frenzy by carving our pumpkins a weekend early. Check out our Halloween photo album. Mike carved a really complicated Headless Horseman design and I stuck with a moderately difficult Ghostie in the Graveyard design.

The bonus? Now I have almost three cups of pumpkin seeds to roast. Mmmm.

Save the Date!

Our save the date cards went out in the mail this week. Sadly the post office has run out of the Star Wars stamps, so we used trees. We also had a quantity issue, so not everyone that’s invited will be receiving a save the date.

In other news, Mike’s birthday just passed. He’s been playing Halo 3 for days.

Also, my Mom is coming to visit us this weekend! We’re going dress shopping for her, Mike’s Mom, and Aunt Kathy, and Aunt Lori and Aunt Gamma will be here too. Trust me, Mike will be playing lots of Halo this weekend.

Wedding Progress Update

We’ve been oh-so-busy here in the Kayser/Jandreau household. Mike’s been busy with the (semi) new job. I’ve been busy at work, and working on MovieSnobs. And of course, there’s the wedding planning.

Latest wedding news: we’ve hired the florist – Judy’s Village Flowers in Foxboro. She’s worked with Lake View a lot, and she’s been doing wedding flowers for 17 years.

The girls picked their bridesmaids dresses. They are gorgeous (the girls and the dresses), but I’ll leave those as a surprise for the wedding.

Mike’s birthday is this weekend, so we both took Friday off of work. Next weekend Mom & Aunt Kathy are coming with some of the other girls. We’re going mother-of-the-bride, godmother-of-the-bride, and mother-of-the-groom dress shopping with Linda.

I have a nasty cold, so I’m off to watch “The Unit,” “Law & Order Special Victims Unit,” and then take some cold medicine and go to bed.

The Countdown Continues…

It is now 200 days until our wedding. Weeee!
