Hard at work
Yes, it’s true, I’m hard at work. Been working on an e-commerce bookstore for a friend of a co-worker’s mom. (That sounds more Kevin Bacon than it really is)
It’s a lot of fun doing design work, but only coding the site. The girl who hired me’s boyfriend/husband/friend (not exactly sure) is doing a design for the graphics, since he does a lot of graphics. I offered to do the graphic design as part of my price, but they really wanted him to do it, so more power to him. I only wish I could have done it myself, because it would have already been done now.
I finished the coding for the shopping cart this morning, with various little tweaks here and there to make things work, so we’ll see what happens with it all. I’m sure there’ll be “can we do”s as I like to call them, once I’m “done”. You know what I mean: “I really like how this works, but can we do something a little different?” or “I really don’t like this, can we do something totally different?”, those types of things are always fun. It gives you a chance to see what sort of insanes things people want to be able to do with their website.
Once it’s done, I’ll add it to my portfolio so everyone can see, should be another few weeks, depending on when I get the design. The money will be helpful, since Chris’ last day at work is on my birthday, the 29th. Sad for Christine, but I know she’ll find something else, even better. Yay for better jobs.
Tonight’s season premiere night, can’t wait for The Office and ER to come on, two shows with great cliff enders last season. Should be exciting.
